Author: I operate a child care center in IL. Our high school has an alarming rate of teen parents. I was wanting to check into providing child care in the school. If anyone has opinions or information, please share.

I think thats a great idea. Were I live the high school has a daycare and a pre-school for the teen parents that go there and another neat thing is that along with the teen parents that send there babies there. The Faculty and Staff send there kids there and the center is located right on High School grounds. So if need be the parents can go see the kids at lunch or break. So i think that’d be a good business venture for you to look into the school board and see what they say and go on from there.
Hey if it’ll help the student graduate and keep the graduation rate numbers up then yes it’s a great idea! After all a GED is helpful when you need a job to support your children!
I think its a great thing, everyone makes mistakes and has their moments but they still deserve to get an education. good luck.
I think its a good idea if it keeps the kids in school. Then again I don’t want them to think this is easy it will be OK to have another. I hope they learn that being a teenage mom is the hardest. Taking care of a child and going to school full time is hard on adults let along teens. I say go for it. We need to keep these kids in school to continue their education. They need to know having a baby isn’t the end but they should practice safe sex.
I think it’s a wonderful way of telling our young people it’s ok to follow their lusts because someone will always be there to dig them out of the crapper!
Whew, sorry, must be having a bad day. What I meant to say was why not open a child care facility near the school but not on school property? That makes more sense to me.
If the teen parent numbers are truly alarming, maybe you could get some people together who can organize things for these young people to do other than… well, what they’ve been doing. Diversion is a great deterrent.

As a parent, I think it is a terrible idea…
our school provides it and i think it’s awesome. the students that use the facilities are required to volunteer there for a certain amount of time, which is a cool way of paying for the service. i like that it allows teen mothers to continue their education.
