Hurley, the love of our life, was told he had a grade 2 heart murmur. At only 1 1/2 yrs. then, we didn’t worry so much being the fact our vet said it was very mild and innocent. Didn’t seem like a threat.
Now, he’s two and was recently seen for an ear infection, as he tends to get. Upon the checkup, our doctor listened in to his heart and his face expression was not at all promising. He then went on to tell us the murmur definitely has changed, and that it most likely sounds at about grade 5.
We were pretty much numb at the moment, and didn’t have much to ask and talk about. He just gave us a brief breakdown of the possible causes, and possible solutions. We’re in waiting to see the cardiologist in July, and let me say I’ve been a mess.
Our Pit Bull Hurley is the light in our house! He’s such a huge part of our family and part of me. I refuse to think about losing him at this point, though my husband does a good job at keeping me in reality.
As were waiting, we’ve begun to think about what ways this can take us. One thing I’ve definitely given thought to is homeopathic remedies. Natural medicine in general, since we ourselves, are no strangers to it. I would hate to think of administering Hurley drugs for the rest of his life! Whatever is needed we’ll do, but we would like alternatives for the best.
Does anyone have any experience they can share regarding the heart murmur situation?
And any input regarding holistic vets?
We’re in central California, any vets in the area you’d recommend?
Thanks for the answers so far…
No one with heart murmur survival/treatment experiences?
@TritanBear- What holistic vet do you see? In California? Website? Thanks!
