Question by rosesrred: Should my friend be worried that she hasn’t had her period in two months?
She has never been pregnant, is not trying to conceive, but is not using protection during sex. She has been having yeast infections so she began taking Yeast-Gard capsules, it is a homeopathic formula, and has been on prenatal vitamins for over a year. Yet the pregnancy tests have all been negative. Is it a worry or just normal?

Question by MAR: What supplies should we have on hand for when the baby comes home?
Hi there,

I’m attempting to formulate a shopping list of household supplies to have in plenty stock for when we bring home our baby. I’m currently 35 weeks along and want to take care of some of these details while I still can.

What are some things that got you through those first weeks with a newborn?

Some things I’ve taken into account are toilet paper, paper towels, pads…what else? And how much of these things would be enough?

Thanks!

I just had a baby last week and I wish I would have checked to make sure I had plenty of detergent and softener for the laundry! Luckily I had a girlfriend that could run to the store for me but that was definitely a drag when I needed to get some of my laundry done to feel a little more human, lol. I would also check your toiletry bag and make sure you’re not running low on any makeup, sounds silly but I did my makeup for the first time yesterday and it just brightened me up and made me smile. It would have been a drag to not have something I needed. Hope that helps.

Question by Boho-Wannabe: Which homeopathic remedy should I take?
For the last few years I’ve had a somewhat-distended lower abdomen, enough to constantly bother me if I’m wearing jeans(especially low-waist ones). I also have some thigh-cellulite. I know, it sounds typical of a kind of sedentary, American teenage girl, but there must be SOMETHING I can take to lose the distended belly, at least! I’ll explain why it’s odd: I’m 5’6-5’7, 120-125 pounds, healthy and almost “thin”(skinny upper body, pear shaped lower body). When I look at my side profile in the mirror, a gradual slope comes from my chest and then sticks out at my lower abdomen(tire/muffin top area) before disappearing. It makes me feel self-conscious and fat(again, typical of a teenage girl) but the point is I’m trying to get rid of it so that it stops bothering me and I don’t complain about it to everybody. Some people say that you lose “baby fat” in your later teens, but I’ve noticed my mom has a similar “pooch”(not trying to be rude). I’m not sure if it’s fat(though it probably is) water retention(though I drink water all the time) or what.

I went to the symptom checker on ABC Homeopathy which recommended Calc. Carb. to me but as I said before I’m not overweight or chubby, mostly slim with cellulite-clad areas haha. Any ideas for what my rid me of the pooch best? I tried Lycopodium for a week but didn’t notice any changes after looking in the mirror. Currently I’m on Lachesis which has helped in the week I’ve been on it. I know this sounds silly but I only took Silica once for a day, but it did make me show improvement in mood, only ten minutes after taking it.

Annnd, my enamel is very slowly leaving my two front teeth. It’s a sad and disgusting process. I tried Calc.Fluoride for a week but didn’t notice any results. What would help my teeth absorb the phosphorous and calcium better(if that’s what’s wrong)?

Info.
Dirty blonde hair, not always bright.
Brown eyes
Blue/purple-ish veins
Distended abdomen, pear-shaped, but overall thin
Catarrh occurring in the morning lately
I like most foods(love ice cream and hot dinners) but hate horse-radish. Not fond of onions.
Loss of muscle tone in thighs and stomach
Dark red/purple circles with veins under eyes
Insomnia until about 2 A.M.
Possessive of friends when I become close to them; jealous of friend attention easily.
From what I remember, I can’t recall the last time I really felt that I had forgiven someone who wronged me. Rather, I believe I subconsciously suppress the rest of the anger and forget about it for awhile(though it remains in my memory) which led me to consider Citric Acid…
I rarely complete personal projects, but when I do I feel an enormous since of pride.
When I feel motivation and feel creative, I have the ability to make something nice. But for quite a while, I’ve not felt any motivation(to practice piano, to draw, to organize, etc.) which is really holding me back.
My fears list would include death, being hurt emotionally(somewhat), really enclosed spaces, and sometimes burglars.
I haven’t been in close contact with any friends most of the summer, instead I’ve just had a small, part-time job and a few fun trips.
Like Lachesis, I have difficulty committing to even friendships when it seems to be less than I hoped for, causing the title of my “best friend” to change every few years it seems.
*If you believe homeopathy is nonsense, please don’t even bother to answer. I’ve seen it work on my friend, myself, even a four-year-old. It’s helped my Mom years ago and has been helping her the last few weeks also. I believe it. That’s one opinion I’m very stubborn about, so don’t bother trying to change it.

*If you believe homeopathy works and have reasonable knowledge and experience working with it, THEN respond. Thank you.

*My regular doctor saw my “belly pooch” and told me he doesn’t think it’s Celiacs.

1) there isn’t a single molecule of “remedy” in ANY homeopathic remedy – they are totally bunk’em.
Does it make ANY sense to you that if you dilute something with water until none of the original substance was in it, that it would become more powerful? Nah, I didn’t think so.

http://www.everydayhealth.com/blog/zimney-health-and-medical-news-you-can-use/homeopathy-is-a-scam/

2) That “pooch” is your uterus. The musculature of the female pelvis is such that it accommodates the womb – how’s that for snazzy? I’m five foot eight, 115 lbs, and I have that too….accept it, and quit being so hard on yourself.

Edit
3) if your doctor thinks it’s celiac he should do a biopsy and prescribe diet changes as necessary – celiac is an autoimmune response due to allergic response. No amount of wishful thinking or expensive nonsense is going to help that.

Question by sk8r_69: What supplements should i take for weight lifting?
I have just started weight lifting and i was told i should be taking supplements. There are so many, which ones should i be taking or do i even need them. I am basically looking to bulk up and gain muscle.

Best answer:

Answer by everyidistaken12
No you do not “need” them. They merely make attaining your nutritional requirements much easier than through whole foods.

The much-agreed upon list of important supplements are (in order)
1) Whey Protein
2) Multi Vitamin
3) Gluatamine

You stated that you just started weight training. I wouldn’t bother with the supplements yet (save the cash). You should be focusing on educating yourself (there is a lot to know if you want to succeed), and making sure you are taking in more calories every day than your body is spending (if not, no muscle gain)

Question by tim_buk_u: How should I consume supplements if I work out at night?
Most of the work out programs I have studied have the lifter working out in the morning, and taking their supplements throughout the day. I work out at 10PM and then go to sleep. How can I use my supplements effectively and still work out at 10PM?

Best answer:

Answer by C S
What supplements are you taking? And more importantly what are you eating besides taking supplements. If your diet is weak, supplements will be a waste of time and money.
