What if just about everything you thought you knew about supplements and health turned out to be… absolutely wrong?
Nutrition expert Dr. Brian Clement, director of the world-famous Hippocrates Health Institute, explores the various myths that have made supplements a “buyer beware” industry.
Supplements Exposed strips away layers of deception to reveal the truth about what millions of supplement users each year have taken for granted. For the first time, you will learn how:
* Nearly all supplements sold in the United States and the world are synthetics created in pharmaceutical industry labs. As a result, they can be toxic to your health.
* There are distinct differences between natural (plant-derived) supplements and synthetic (chemically-derived) supplements and how they each impact your health.
* Nearly all medical science studies of nutrients and human health have used synthetics rather than natural nutrients, which throws the accuracy of all negative laboratory results into serious doubt.
This provocative book guides you through the minefield of choices you face every time you buy vitamins and minerals. It shows you how to decipher product labels that are otherwise deceptive, how to choose naturally occurring (plant-derived) supplements, why recommended daily allowances spread confusion, and much more.

Homeopathic Remedies – What You Need to Know For Home Prescribing
You’re probably well aware just how wonderful, deep, thorough, gentle, powerful (I could go on) homeopathy is, but did you know that not only can you receive wonderfully effective treatment from a professional homeopath, you can also use homeopathic remedies in the comfort of your own home?
Home prescribing is, naturally, limited to the less complicated ailments. But there’s a tremendous amount you can do at home.
Lets look at what some of the common homeopathic remedies can do, those that you’ll find in most first aid or common ailment kits.
pain management – forget analgaesics
injury – achieve fast healing with no discomfort
fever – cure it naturally, without suppression
food poisoning – quickly allays the purging with no side effects
burns – treated quickly will ensure blisters and pain don’t develop
colds, flus – nip them in the bud or prevent them altogether
insect bites or worse – no infection can develop
hangovers – never have another one
abscess, boils, carbuncles – no need for antibiotics here
regular nose bleeds? – not any more!
Isn’t that an impressive list? And it’s by no means exhaustive. Imagine the satisfaction of being able to treat a painful ear in the middle of the night. No one wants to be dragged out of bed for an endless wait in hospital, only to be given a drug which may knock you out, but leaves you feeling drugged in the morning and hasn’t resolved the cause, anyway.
Homeopathic remedies only work if you have selected the right one for the job. If you have selected the wrong one, nothing happens. You can’t do yourself any harm.
Isn’t that just a fabulous concept? If you get the wrong remedy nothing happens, if you select the right remedy, the problem just melts away. It’s as if it was never there. Newbies to homeopathy can be forgiven for feeling that – did I really have that pain? – because there are no after effects.
So how do you know which remedy to select for which problem?
Well, apart from the instructions which come with every kit, there are books you can purchase. I love books and learn a lot from them. But sometimes it’s nice to have a person to chat to, or a personal view, or an anecdote to relate to.
Subscribing to a regular eletter will keep you plugged in to thinking in the way you need to. Believe me, using homeopathic remedies is not like using typical over-the-counter drugs. You do need to know a bit.
And I can guarantee you won’t always make the right choice, you won’t always be able to make a difference. But the feeling of elation when you do is worth all the waiting,
I well remember my first success story. It was when I was a homeopathic student. One of my cats became ill and stopped eating. A veterinarian diagnosed kidney failure and gave her, in effect, a death sentence.
I dug out my newly purchased box of homeopathic remedies and a book I’d recently bought. It only took me about five minutes to reach a conclusion. I’ll never forget what happened after I gave her just one dose. She walked into the kitchen, demanding food! Was that sweet or what?
She lived another three, healthy years after that.

Question by XBGIRL: Anyone know much about natural medicine careers such as homeopathy or herbalist???
I’m looking at going back to school and really love natural medicine. I’m hoping that someone out there can tell me more about careers such as being a herbalist or practicing homeopathy. I love to work with people, in fact I am currently a nursing assistant. I have NO intentions on being an RN because I do not like the ways of “tradional medicine” and how much they push drugs.
I have had a personal experience once with homeopathy when “traditional medicine” did not work for me for years, and with one remedy from the homeopath doc, all my medical problems were gone just like that! It was such an amazing thing!
I live in the state of Wisconsin, and cannot move out of state to go to a school. The only schooling I can find is distance learning type schools. Any tips or ideas???
Thank You!!!

Natural medicine is great! I am studying it now but i live in Australia so i dont really know where in Wisconsin you can study it. It really is a fantastic thing to be studying right now as people are becoming more aware of natural medicine alternatives. It depends what course you decide to take but both herbalism and homeopathy will require you to do chemistry, biology, biochemistry and pharmaceuticals which can be a bit tricky but i suppose you already have the background from your current nursing position. It really is fun and great for the open minded. I really hope you can find a nice school to study at. It really hellps to meet like minded people and share the experience.

Incontinence In Older Dogs: Three Things You Need To Know
If your aging pet is beginning to have “accidents” in the house, incontinence in older dogs may be the problem. This is a distressing problem, but it can be managed. First, it’s necessary to find out what’s causing the problem. Second, choose the right treatment. And third, you may need to change your pet’s environment. Incontinence in dogs doesn’t have to mean the end of the road for your canine companion.
What Causes Dog Incontinence?
There are several reasons why an aging dog may become incontinent. Cystitis in dogs is more common that you would think. This bacterial infection causes irritation in the bladder that makes it hard for your dog to “hold it.” She may not be able to make it outside. You may notice blood in her urine.
Dog bladder stones are also common in older pets. These stones can irritate the bladder and cause an infection. If your canine friend has repeated bladder infections, bladder stones could be the culprit.
Canine cancer can also cause incontinence in dogs. If you notice persistent bleeding from your pet’s urinary tract, don’t ignore it. Take her to the vet for a check-up as soon as possible.
If you notice puddles of urine or a wet spot when your companion gets up from a nap, her urinary sphincter may be relaxing. This is common is spayed females. Lower estrogen levels cause a lack of muscle tone, including in the muscles that control her bladder.
Treatments For Incontinence In Older Dogs
A bacterial infection is usually treated with antibiotics. Bladder stones sometimes can be dissolved with dietary changes, but may need to be removed surgically.
There are many treatments available for canine cancer, including chemotherapy and radiation.
Hormone treatments are often given to females who are leaking urine. These hormones help to tone the muscles, and can lessen or even stop the urine leaking.
Environmental Changes
It may be necessary to put a waterproof pad under your pet when she’s sleeping to protect your furniture and floors. “Doggie diapers” are available for pets who have serious incontinence problems.
Natural Remedies For Dogs Can Help
More and more people are turning to natural remedies to manage their own health issues, so it’s only natural that they would want natural remedies for their pets, too. You may be surprised to find out that there are many herbal and homeopathic remedies formulated especially for cats and dogs on the market today.
When using natural remedies for dogs, you’ll want to know that what you’re giving your pet is safe and effective. The correct dosage is essential. Look for a remedy that contains the herbs uva ursi and berberis, along with the homeopathic remedies Cantharis and Staphysagris. These natural remedies have a long history of use in people, and they’re very effective for urinary problems in pets, too.
Don’t despair if your beloved companion is showing signs of dog incontinence. You’ll want to start her on a high-quality natural remedy for pets right away.

Question by dani: How can one know which brand of herbal supplements is best and most credible?
I spend alot of money buying alot of herbal and nutritional supplements, but lately I’ve been wondering how one can know which supplements truly contain the ingredients that they claim in the amounts that they claim, and whether they are manufactured with quality standards, etc. Since they aren’t regulated, how can one know for sure. Are there any brands that are frequently tested by independent labs, and how does one know that the supplement company is not just paying off the lab to give it a passing score? I’m obsessing over this but don’t know how to find credible information about it. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Well, whole foods have nutritional value that they’re advertising in these supplements. Why buy supplements when you can get your daily intake of vitamins through the real deal: WHOLE FOODS!!! If you’re spending a lot on herbal and nutritional supplements, why not buy organic foods, and fresh herbs to cook with? Lab tests will show that most of the vitamins and supplements you’re taking is only expected to absorb about 30% of it ‘nutritional value’ into your system. Most people pass these pills without ANYTHING absorbing into their systems! I believe this is because we’re not meant to get our daily vitamins from pills, but rather from whole foods. Here’s a few sites with great information on the latest findings in supplements versus whole foods:
