Question by davester: Please help: traveling with herbal supplements through SE Asian customs. How can I ensure success?
I’ll be going on a 3-month backpacking trip to Singapore and other SE Asian destinations, and I need to bring with me a large supply of herbal dietary supplements for health maintenance (no, not THOSE herbs).

I’m concerned about two things: 1) the large quantity I’ll be bringing (6 bags of about 360 count 1,000 mg capsules) and

2) the fact that they will be in clear zip-lock bags with no labels identifying the contents (there is no original packaging with labeling because my nutritionist receives these herbs in bulk, and then passes them on to me).

The Singapore customs Web site states a person can bring a 3-month supply of “medicines” without declaring anything or getting special permission, as long as they aren’t controlled substances (mine aren’t). But he or she must have accompanying documents, such as “a physician’s note and/or prescription” (I can get a note but obviously not a prescription since they are natural herbs).

But, will a note be enough? Suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by jaki l
If you check your bag in when flying rather than carrying it on as hand luggage, you shouldn’t have a problem. Otherwise, they might well get confiscated. The other way to do it might be to get some kind of doctor’s letter stating why you need the supplements. I heard of someone taking medicine through customs without a prescription. Their painkillers were simply binned – no questions asked.

Question by d j: PLACENTA PREVIA At 34 weeks. Does Homeopathy Medicine CINAMOMUM 200C help Move the placenta. Urgent thoughts?
We need some thoughts on the usefulness of this medicine. Will help in making right decisions for our first baby.

Best answer:

Answer by Doodlestuff
Nothing MOVES the placenta. The placenta is all attached by around week 12. What does move is your uterus as the baby grows. If you have placenta previa as late as 34 weeks, a vaginal delivery just isn’t looking good. But it also depends on how close to the cervix it is. Good luck! Tough spot to be in.

Question by Rhianna does Medicine Year 1: Homeopathy in the treatment of epidemics. What’s the historical record? Could this help Haiti (re-post)?
Just when I thought Nosey couldn’t stoop any lower, she posted this question:

“Andre Saine, ND wrote:
With more than 25,000 volumes, the homeopathic literature is very rich in reports about the results obtained by homeopathy during epidemics. Results obtained by homeopathy during epidemics reveal a very important and clear constancy – namely, a very low mortality rate. This constancy remains, regardless of the physician, institution, time, place, or type of epidemical disease, including diseases carrying a very high mortality rate, such as cholera, smallpox, diphtheria, typhoid fever, yellow fever, and pneumonia. This low mortality rate is always superior to the results obtained by the allopathy practiced at that particular time and, as a rule, the allopathy of today. Despite well-documented and official reports, the results obtained by homeopathy have been almost completely ignored by the scientific and medical communities, as if they had occurred in a void of time and space.

I will now give five examples to illustrate these results:
When cholera first invaded Europe in 1831, the mortality throughout Europe was generally between 40-60%. To the surprise of many, mortality rates reported by homeopathic physicians was generally below ten percent and, commonly, under four percent.

I will now present two typical cholera reports, which have an official stamp to them. The first one comes from the territory of Raab in Hungary where, in 1831, a Dr. Joseph Bakody treated 223 patients with mild-to-severe cholera, 14 of whom were in the collapse state. He lost a total of eight patients, a mortality of 3.6%.

A similar situation occurred in Cincinnati in 1849. The Board of Health issued an order calling for physicians to report all cases of cholera. The Board received reports of a high mortality rate from the city hospital and allopathic physicians. However, six homeopathic physicians attracted national attention when they reported not one single death out of their first 350 cases of cholera. Two of these homeopathic physicians, Dr. Pulte and Ehrmann would eventually report treating 2,646 cases with 35 deaths, or a mortality rate of 1.3%. Allopaths reported fatal outcomes in 50% of their cases.

Now, let’s move on and look at pneumonia, whose incidence and virulence has remained quite uniform throughout time. Before the era of antibiotics, the average death rate from pneumonia was 30%. Since the introduction of antibiotics, the death rate has only gone down to 18%. On the other hand, the death rate under genuine homeopathic treatment has always been less than one to three percent, even in patients suffering from the most fulminate type of pneumonia.

Let’s push our inquiry a bit further and look at the most fatal of all infectious diseases, rabies. I have been able to document more than a dozen well-described cases with unmistakable, fully developed clinical rabies that had uneventful recoveries under homeopathy without any prophylaxis whatsoever to assuage the virulence of the disease.

This small sample of reports should be sufficient to illustrate the potential of homeopathy and incite real scientists, honest physicians, and intelligent people to examine homeopathy more seriously. Such extraordinary outcomes are not an exception in homeopathy but are the rule for all 33 infectious diseases I have so far investigated, which include typhus, malignant scarlet fever, meningitis, tetanus, anthrax, septicemia, and malaria.

What you have seen today makes it clear – homeopathy is very plausible, and there is both ample clinical and epidemiological evidence that it works. Homeopathy will become an integral part of medicine despite the paradoxical nature of its remedies and all other prejudices against it, simply because homeopathy is safe, efficacious, and cost-effective.”

Given that death from cholera usually results from dehydration, water (homeopathy) would help, but a serious answer is warranted here…

I think some people are being WAY too negative about this homeopathy lark. Look at it this way, if someone has cholera what is going to do them most good? A good drink o water or trying to balance the four humours by purging or blood-letting?

Come to think of it what’s the front line treatment for cholera today? Oh, oral re-hydration therapy. Which is? Water with some salt and sugar added. Who’d have thunk it!

Old Dog Incontinence: Can Natural Remedies For Dogs Help?

It’s hard to believe, but incontinence in older dogs has become a problem for your canine companion.  It seems like only yesterday that he was a rambunctious puppy getting into all kinds of mischief, but now your old friend is slowing down and developing problems like old dog incontinence.  Don’t despair, because incontinence in dogs doesn’t mean the end is near for your friend.

Causes Of Incontinence In Older Dogs

The problem may be caused by something as simple as cystitis in dogs.  This is a bacterial infection that causes frequent urination.  You may notice that he has blood in his urine, too.  The irritation can make it hard for your dog to “hold it” until you can let him out.  These urinary tract infections are easily treated with antibiotics or herbal remedies for dogs.

Canine bladder stones are a common reason for bladder infections.  These stones often have sharp edges which irritate the bladder wall, leading to a bladder infection.  Stones can sometimes be dissolved by a change in diet, but sometimes they must be removed surgically.

Canine diabetes or Cushing’s disease may be causing your pet to drink more water, leading to more frequent urination and possible accidents in the house.  It’s a good idea to have your older dog checked for these conditions if incontinence in dogs is becoming a problem for him.  These conditions can be challenging, but they’re manageable for most pet owners.

Declining hormone levels in older females cause a loss of muscle tone, including in the muscles that control the bladder.  Prostrate problems in males can also cause urinary troubles.

If you notice persistent bleeding from your pet’s urinary tract, that could be a sign of canine cancer, so don’t ignore it.  Take him to the vet for a check-up right away.

You may need to start putting a waterproof pad under your old friend when he’s sleeping.  Let him out more frequently.  Don’t make him wait too long.  Some owners resort to “doggie diapers” if old dog incontinence happens too often.

Natural Remedies For Dogs May Be The Answer

People have been using natural remedies to support urinary health for centuries.  Now these same herbs and homeopathic remedies are available in formulations made especially for pets.

Uva ursi and berberis (also known as barberry) are two herbs with a long history of use for bladder and urinary problems in humans.  They are just as safe and effective for our pets.

Homeopathic remedies, including Cantharis and Staphysagris, also have a long record of success for human urinary problems.  The best thing about natural remedies is that there are very few, if any, side effects, especially when using products made for pets.  Look for a company that has a sterling reputation for producing the highest-quality natural remedies for dogs.

Don’t wait for incontinence in dogs to become a big problem with your pet.  Start him on a natural remedy today that will support canine urinary health and prevent problems before they occur.

Darlene Norris has combined her experience working at a vet clinic with her long-time interest in natural healing to bring you her new website, Natural Pet Urinary Health. Question by swelwynemma: I’ve got several questions about homeopathy (I’ve NEVER taken it before in my life) – can you help?
I think I have tonsillitis.

My throat feels scratchy and burning, I have pain behind my ears and on the sides of my neck and a headache. I also have a fever that keeps me awake at night.

Anyway, I went to see a doctor at my university in France today and I was given Belladonna 9ch(or is it CH?); Mercurius Corrosivus 9ch or 9CH and Hepar Sulfuris Calcareum.

1. Who is/are the official body/ies for homeopathy in France and the UK?
2. If you’ve ever taken any of these medicines before, have they worked?
3. What did you have (No need to be specific if you don’t want to be)
4. How did you take whatever it was you were given it:
4a.How often
4b.could you chew it or take it with water?
4c. How long did you take it for?
5. Did you have any bad side-effects?
6. Did you have any unexpected – but good – side-effects?
7. What did it taste like?
8. I was told you couldn’t touch the capsules with your fingers – is this true?
9. Whereabouts on the tongue did you have to place the capsules?
10. How should the containers be stored?

Many thanks for any help you can give!
The Hepar was 15ch/15CH, sorry!
I didn’t go to a homeopathic doctor: I just went to the medical centre and happened to have been prescribed homeopathic medicine.

Oh, and can I drink alcohol with it?

Whatever comments – good or bad – are posted here, I want to see what’ll happen for me as well
I was told how to take them… I just wanted to hear from previous experience

All of the ten questions are moot when you consider that the 9CH dilution is 1/1000000000000000 – that’s one atom of the “remedy” for every 1000000000000000 of the water it’s diluted with – They normally put a drop of this magic water on a pill or just flavor it and give it in the liquid form. The pills or liquid the quack gave you could be the size of the planet Jupiter and the odds are that you’d never get one single atom of the so-called remedy – Homeopathy is bunk! No need to worry about side-effects as it will do no more than a glass of water. Go to a real doctor and demand real medicine if you have tonsillitis.

Question by Lubon: Help me! I drank a whole bottle of homeopathic cold medicine!?
The medicine contains rattlesnake venom! I’m so stupid. Should I make myself puke or drink lots of water?
I’m starting to get a stomach ache and I’m not thirsty so I’m going to make myself puke. I hope I’m making the right decision.
Sorry, I don’t believe in doctors. I wonder if I could eat the contents of a fresh Brita water filter. That is activated charcoal. Isn’t that what the doctors would give me anyway?

Best answer:

Answer by little78lucky
you should go to the hospital for a charcoal treatment so it can soak up any toxins..puking or drinking water would not be good enough

Answer by parsleysage
Ayurveda has some very specific things to include in your life and diet and things to avoid.
It will be helpful for you to determine what body type you are first .
Then look for the coordinating consuming / avoiding list .
Giving and recieving equally will bring harmony into your life
Even considering food
Also you can do yoga and a whole myriad of things to help yourself on your way to wellness.
Just cutting out processed foods that have a lot of additives will help .
So much i cannot possibly have space here to elaborate and educate you fully

Natural Health Care May Help in Healing

It’s amazing what the human body can do – especially when it comes to natural health care and self-healing. Complementary health treatments like massage therapy can be beneficial in achieving optimal health and wellbeing. Labor pain, for instance, can be alleviated through massage. Other common health issues like anxiety and back pain can be significantly reduced with massage therapy as well.

Additional natural health treatments like biofeedback, hypnosis, meditation and yoga are mind-body medicines that are proving to be helpful in a variety of health issues. For example, meditation has been shown to help relieve symptoms from common conditions and diseases like allergies, anxiety, cancer, chronic pain, high blood pressure, and even heart disease, among others.

Individuals who have cancer have discovered many benefits to natural health care treatments. More specifically, acupuncture, aromatherapy, hypnosis, massage, and Tai Chi all seem to have a positive impact on the side effects of conventional cancer treatments; helping to reduce anxiety, nausea and vomiting, pain, and stress.

Ultimately, natural health care treatments can be acquired through a local acupuncturist, aromatherapist, herbalist, massage therapist, chiropractic doctor, or homeopathic practitioner. Some specialized holistic practitioners may offer natural health therapies like Reiki, reflexology, energy healing, acupressure, iridology, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and holistic nutrition counseling, and more.

While natural health care may be helpful for certain health conditions, it is always a good idea to check with your health care provider to determine if these and other complementary medicines might be right for you. Ideally, if you are really serious about creating a more healthful lifestyle, invest some time in researching the various natural health options that are available to you today.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding educational programs in natural healing, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massotherapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore natural health programs near you.
