A pharmacist told me that “cough suppressants have been causing a lot of (children) emergency room visits this year.” My sister’s pediatrician told her that “complications/side effects from cough suppressants in children have caused 2000 deaths” and not to give her 1 year old a cough suppressant. I do not believe in over medicating my child (almost 4) but her cough is almost uncontrollable at night. the only thing I can find out online is a general concensus that cough suppressants are not actually effective in reducing coughs. NOTHING about these complications/deaths. Sister’s pediatrician says it is not in the news yet because they are still studying it. I just want to know what anyone knows or thinks about any of this. Also-homeopathic ways to soothe a cough?? Thanks.
