Question by amylou: I was diagnosed with pcos 5 years ago and have tried almost everything to lose weight. Any advice?
I am feeling overwhelmed and do not know where to start. I have always been active in my job and with the level of sport I play but cannot get the weight off. It has gradually increased and I am now the biggest I have ever been 104kg (225lb). I need to find a specialist to help me but don’t know if I should see an endocrinologist or maybe someone in homeopathy and alternative medicine. I would love to hear from someone who has been through this. Thanks!

Dietary therapy
Where PCOS is associated with overweight or obesity, successful weight loss is probably the most effective method of restoring normal ovulation/menstruation, but many women find it very difficult to achieve and sustain significant weight loss. Low-carbohydrate diets and sustained regular exercise may help. Some experts recommend a low GI diet in which a significant part of total carbohydrates are obtained from fruit, vegetables and whole grain sources

go see an endocrinologist, you should treat first your pcos so you can easily lose weight, and consult him also with you wanting to loose weight

I am a housewife…i really cannot afford more…i am really worried as doctors here if we just go for one visit charge 200 to 300, i dont mind spending money as health is wealth, but i am not seeing any improvement in my child.

One more thing is I thought homeopathy is good, i went to that doctor but he gives medicines and they cost around 400 to 600 Rs. and no use of that medicine

I thinks doctors are experimenting without our life…When they cannot prescribe a proper medicine, what is the use of them being a doctor…all have become money minded…they do not even see if any one is affordable or not…they do not judge what the problem is….they give a list of bloodwork to be done…and that too from top to bottom….i am really depressed…even i am suffering from viral flu from monday and only from wednesday my temp has come down to 99.4, it is not decreasing any further, but i got all blood test done, all came as negative, i am on two types of antibiotics oflox 400 mg and azee 500 mg, i have lot of bodyache…can any doctor give me a perfect reason…

can anyone tell me what is the type of fever i am suffering, i have a ESR of 35 what does that mean, i know i have infection, but what type, why doctors are not giving any medicine for removal of phelgm and mucous…

I believe a lot in GOD,, but i dont know now even GOD is also not helping me…

Well, your child will be sick if you are sick. I mean, cough and colds are contagious. See if someone can take care of him while you get well. I suggest you look for another doctor if you don’t think your present doctor is doing you any good.

My 2 year old female English setter (adopted 8 months ago) has a chronic skin problem. We’ve had 4 visits to the vet/3 different vets. They say she has no parasites, but DERMATITIS. We tried antibiotics with a topical cream, then the same antibiotics and a type of topical foam and the problem still persists, and now it’s worse.
I also tried changing the diet, she was on a lamb and rice, and fish and rice dog food, and no change. then I tried a natural diet with rica and/or pasta with vegetables and meat or chicken. No change.
My latest attempt is homeopathic remedy – ‘sulfer’ granuals – but still no change.

Her skin is very pink and in places there are small red bumps (no pus, there is a large dry ulcer near her neck which has never fully healed and that she scratches, and she often bites near her feet and bum. She scratches everywhere and also on her face. Her coat is thin and course (not sure if this is because she may be a ES cross) and she like to be warm and near the heater.
She hasn’t been spayed yet.

Anyone have any ideas???? I’m at a loss here!
thanks!!!!

My doctor has me on Immitrex and Fovra. I also take Fioricet and some Excedrin Migraine. Nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any homeopathic remedies or old family ways of helping me get rid of my pain? P.S. Getting my eyes examined on Monday

I have a wonderful daughter, very bright, but very willful…some would call her spirited. I have tried many things to get her to sleep, but she always reverts back to staying up until 2AM, or even later, and then sleeping 10 or 11 hours. Lately she’s been going to sleep sometimes at 1 or 2 AM, and then waking up at 6AM, when the first light rays sneak into the room. I have worked on a routine, but in vain. I have given her a sleep aid containing homeopathic ingredients such as chamomile. It worked for 2 night, then it stopped working, even when I tripled the dose. I have tried warm milk, warm baths, aromatherapy. Nothing works. Please don’t tell me to give her a shot of whiskey, b/c I won’t. She hasn’t started school yet, but when she does it will hopefully help. In the meantime, I need ideas…please!!!
Sometimes she will fall asleep at a reasonable hour, but b/c she wakes upp so late, she ends up making it a nap, and waking up in the middle of the night, and staying up for hours.
