Question by tamalika: about my lutino lovebird?
My little bird is very sick. He is always sitting at the perch keeping his head towards with partly closed eye. Littlebit tail bobbing also there. It seems that he has breathing problem. In india I dont find any avian vet also. Please suggest some antibitic or homeopathy medicine for this. Also mention dosages. His weight will be 30grams.

I am sorry the little guy is sick..I do not know of any medicine to give him but, you can try this.
Place him in a clam area and keep him warmer than usual
Moist heat is good.. not wet ok.. do not get the bird wet..ok !
If you do not have a heat source..place a towel over half his cage.
If he is not eating you may have to hand feed him..get some hand feeding formal and only give him very small amounts..you may have to gently force his beak open on the left side.
These are things we do with a sick bird..if a vet is not possible
Sometimes it works , sometimes not.:(

This was an article that I came across, while doing some research, and I am completely alarmed, because i have NEVER heard of this before.
It is lengthy, but here is the article …

” As far back as 2003, there were reports that all 27 veterinary schools in North America were considering new guidelines in relation to annual vaccinations for pets. A new protocol was accepted, which acknowledged that the immune systems of both dogs and cats are fully mature by the age of 6 months. Therefore, if the animal is vaccinated after the age of 6 months, it results in immunity from the major diseases vaccinated against – parvo virus and distemper. If a further vaccination is given
a year later (the first of the so-called “annual vaccinations”), the antibodies from the first vaccine neutralize the antigens of the second vaccine and there is little or no effect.

Yes, you did read that correctly – little or no effect.

The guidelines went further, finding that not only are annual boosters for parvo and distemper unnecessary, they subject the pet to potential risks of allergic reactions and immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. Vaccinosis is a common term used for these types of reactions. It can occur in any animal. Animals that are most at risk of experiencing such reactions are those which were not in excellent health at the time of the vaccinations. Unhealthy animals should never be vaccinated.

But wait, there’s more (as the saying goes) … the guidelines went on to find that there is no scientific documentation to back up label claims for annual administration of MLV (modified live virus) accines. Yes, NO scientific documentation to support annual vaccinations!

Puppies receive antibodies through their mothers milk, which is active for the first 8 to 14 weeks of puppies’ lives. A series of vaccinations should be given starting at 8 weeks and given 3 to 4 weeks apart up to 16 weeks of age – so a maximum of 4 vaccinations between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks. A further vaccination given sometime after 6 months of age (usually at the age of 1 year 4 months) will then provide lifetime immunity.

Yes, lifetime immunity.

So why are we still being misled into believing that annual vaccinations for animals are required?

Why indeed. There are a combination of
reasons, including –

(a) ignorance on the part of vets (although as time goes on, there is less and less excuse for this kind of ignorance),

(b) unwillingness to trust pet owners to bring their pets in for an annual health checkup and using the spectre of “required” annual vaccinations as the means to get pet owners to bring their pets in,

(c) profits.

Will you succumb to the continued pressure to vaccinate your pet unnecessarily every year, or will you take a stand and advise your vet that you do not wish to vaccinate your pet any more. (Of course, you should always discuss the issue with your vet, as it is of great importance to have a vet you can work with in relation to the holistic health of your pet. Annual checkups are very important, and you never know when you’ll need to call on your vet if your pet is injured or gets sick).

If your vet will not support your decision not to vaccinate your adult dog or cat, then find a vet who will. Titer tests are an alternative that your vet may suggest, and you may wish to consider. Titers test the blood for antibodies, which can reassure you that a “booster” vaccination is not required.
Certainly there are laws which need to be changed – including the laws which currently govern boarding kennels in many areas, which require any animal boarded to be “up to date” with its annual
vaccinations. This is obviously a problem for people who need to board their pets. Some kennels will accept homeopathic vaccinations such as homeopathic distemper remedies and homeopathic kennel cough remedies, but many will not. ”
WOW!! I didn’t actually think there would be people who agree!! I thought I would be chewed out for posting such a thing!

Well, if this is seriously true, I’m glad I came across it.
Because now I know that anything past the 1yr and 4 month shots totally negate the whole set of shots given prior to that…and so on every year…

*** ok, so having learned that, RABIES is required, in my state anyway. in order for you to not have your dog taken away and for the dog to be “legal”

So, for Yearly Exams, the only necessary thing to do is: Dental Cleanings, Rabies Shot, and Physical Exam, with a HeartWorm and Fecal Check? ***

Question by CS: parents don’t believe me about pulling my hair?
i’m 15 and lately i’ve been pulling out strands of my hair, especially when i’m really stressed out doing homework. the place where i part my hair is really wide now and its embarrassing! i’m not like an unhappy person or anything! i think my parents think i’m trying to get attention or something when i tell them i must have ocd or something. they took me to this homeopathic dr. to get me vitamins for anxiety but i don’t think it’s helping as much as its supposed to. how do i make them believe me here? i’m also wondering how long will it take for that hair to grow back?

a few possibilities.

Could be stress/anxiety. If you lose more than 200 strands a day it might be abnormal.

Could be physiological – don’t want to stress you more, but some women experience female pattern balding.

Could be diet: there might be something your body doesn’t like/allergic to, etc.

The least likely answer is trichollmania (sp?): psychological disorder of hair pulling.

Homeopathic doctors are good, but do your homework and then see a traditional main-stream science doctor and compare results.

Actually, i shifted to bangalore 4 yrs back and since then i’m ill everyday. Initially a get sick once in a month, then once in a week and now i’m sick everyday. I suffer from running nose problem everyday. Whenever i get cold it is very severe. I have undergone one Nose Surgery too when i came to bangalore but my cold was fine for 2 months then it started again. i took homeopathy medicine for allergy abt 2 1/2 yrs but still my health is not good. Everyday i’m sick. sometimes viral & Herpis, Cold & Headache always. I have constipation problem too which aggrevates my cold and headache. Kindly suggest what medicine should i take. My experiences with doctors are not gud, noone is able to prescribe me some gud medicine to cure my illness. Can anyone tell is tis serious issue and how long it will take to cure tis.

Unfortunately only your doctor is able to prescribe medications for you to use. If you’re not comfortable seeing your family doctor, go to a walk in clinic, or to another doctor. If all else fails go to your public health clinic or something like that, but only a qualified doctor is allowed to prescribe things for you. If you don’t feel that the medications are working for your condition, then maybe your doctor should order some tests for you.

Question by agactual: I am A Bit Confused About My Experience with Homeopathy?
I had been reading a lot about homeopathy over the last few weeks, just out of a strange curiosity, not because i believe it works. Finally, i got so curious about it that I found a place near my house that sell homeopathic medications (or whatever you want to call them) and decided to test it by getting something for my leg. I have fairly chronic low level pain from a ligament that i damaged about a year ago. The only treatment is to wait while it very slowly repairs. My doctor said probably another 2 years before it is 100% again. So i bought the stuff as an effort to prove that it would do nothing and after reading about it for several weeks, HAD to try it.

So i got the homeopathic stuff, took it as directed, and it didn’t seem to do anything until about the third day, when the pain in my leg disappeared. No pain for the first time in a year. People would argue it is the placebo effect but how can that be if i didn’t think it would work and know that it can’t work? Homeopathy can’t work, so what caused the significant decrease in my symptoms?

I grew up in Europe and owe my life to a homeopath who revived me when the hospital had sent me home to die. I have used the remedies all my life. They work just fine. Some of them faster than others.
