Hi
My 4 month old baby boy is suffering from reflux. Up to now I have given him Infant Gaviscon prescribed by the doctor. Although this helps a little bit it makes him extremely constipated. I have spoken to a homeopath that gave him Chamomilla 200. I am suppose to give this before every bottle (I recently went from breastmilk to SMA Gold formula) I’ve now given it to him for 3 days but the reflux seem to be getting worse. He is also very cranky and cries a lot more than usual. He recently started sleeping through the night but for the last two nights he woke up at 4am and keep moaning (not really crying) until 6am when he will falls asleep again for another hour or two. He has also lost his appetite.
When doing a quick search on the internet I notice a lot of people mention Chamomilla 30 – not 200. Can someone please explain the difference and why the homeopath would have given 200 and not 30? Also, I found one article that suggested that Chamomilla 200 should only be used once, not before every feed?
It is also worth mentioning that he has a mild cold at the moment. Although when he had a really bad cold previously he still fed really well and seemed much happier.
Please excuse my ignorance on the subject. I am new to homeopathy and would very much like to find the right remedy instead of going back to conventional medicine.
Thanks

Hi Helga, by reflux I mean he gets sick after every meal. Bringing up most of his feed. He has never suffered from colic.
As mentioned above. I DID take my baby to the doctor who prescribed Infant Gaviscon which makes him constipated. The doctor is not prepared to give anything else.

What exactly do you mean by reflux?
I’m glad you’re giving homeopathic remedies a try – they’ve worked wonders for my son’s colic (Chamomilla & Pulsatilla), but especially helpful was the advice for warming his feet – there is a direct correlation between upset stomach & cold feet. Even today (at 14) when he has a belly-ache his first response is to put on some socks.
First don’t depend entirely on homeopathic remedy—show your baby to a MD doc
secondly, the 200 dose is too high for a baby—please stop the medicine immediately!!
a 200 dose is meant to be taken once a day then another dose taken the next day and wait for a violent reaction to the symptoms which is a good sign that the remedy is correct and then stop the medicine.
for a baby the safest dose is 30 twice or thrice a day between meals

Homeopathic ‘medicines’ will not help your 4 month old much. I doubt the kid is able to benefit from the placebo effect that homeopathic ‘medicines’ produce.
Take your child to a real doctor and maybe you can be a good parent.
30 means that it was the original substance was diluted less times than the 200. Both are diluted enough so that no molecules of the active ingredient are in the solution anymore. If you took a chemistry class, you can easily see why homeopathy is a load of bunk.
