i am planning a sexual health workshop for young people aged 13-19 years old. i can find sexual health games quite easily but need some other ideas that are informative but also interactive. there is not a particular area of sexual health i am focusing on but i do not want to stand up in front of them and just read a load of information (obviously) any ideas would be really appreciated.!

You could ask them questions like what’s the most common STI? or what things could you do if you were worried about your health? You may also want to run through some scenarios that promote healthy attitudes to sex. For example you could pick a topic like date rape, give a scenario then you may want to ask the class to think about some of the reasons date rape happens. Good examples would be:
- some men’s attitude that a woman who agrees to go out with them, or agrees to come back to their house, is consenting to have sex.
- Or the attitude that “scoring” is the most important thing, rather
than sharing a special experience with that other person.
- Or that if a woman gets drunk, or wears a sexy outfit, she must want to have sex.
- Or that a woman who says no is just “playing hard to get” and really does want sex.
For information about the respect connect programs which are aimed at reducing violent behaviour see the first link below.
I’m also putting in some links to really good sites to find out the facts on sexually transmissible infections.
Good luck with your workshop.
