I have conjunctivitis I think (i’m seeing a doctor tomorrow) and I was wondering how long it takes to clear up. I’ve been putting these homeopathic drops (“Similasan pink eye relief) in my affected eye every few hours today and it hasnt seemed to help. How long does it take for conjunctivitis to clear up and do I really need to see a doctor if I’m using the drops?

I would see your doctor definitely, anything to do with your eyes is ALWAYS important. Where would you be without them? It takes a lot of adapting to get used to no eyes.
Depending on how bad the infection is, it may take a while to clear up or it may clear up really easily.
The fact that you’re not sure you have conjunctivitis and that you’ve been self-medicating worries me slightly. Personally I don’t think you should self-medicate unless you’re certain what you are treating. You could have a stye in your eye (like an ulcer), stye’s and conjunctivitis have some similar symptoms and most people would not be able to tell them apart. This might be why the homeopathic drops haven’t been working. If you’re not treating the infection with the right type of medication it won’t dissapear.
I would definitely recommend seeing your doctor, even if it’s just to ask his opinion, you don’t have to accept a prescription if you don’t want to, you can carry on with the self-medicating once you know what you’re treating properly and what you can do to help it heal.
If it is conjunctivitis, when you get up in the morning, dip some cotton wool in warm water and wipe it over your eyes to get rid of the gunk, I was always told to put salt in to make salt water which can help get rid of infection, but I’m a wimp and was always worried about this stinging so I just stuck to warm water, which helped me.
If it is a stye, then when you blink you might get a stabbing pain in your eye, when you pull your eye lid down (or up) you’ll see a slight redish lump, that is the stye, they can be tiny, but they cause so much pain and discomfort it’s unbelievable. If it is a stye, I sympathise completely, mine get so bad I see a specialist for them, there isn’t much you can do by yourself to stop a stye hurting, but on the up side, once you get the anti-biotic eye drops it normally clears up within a few days and the pain relief is almost instantaneous.
Hope this helps =]
You need antibiotic eyedrops….and you should treat BOTH eyes. simultaneously…not only the eye where the infection is located. This is important as if you treat the eye with the infection and not the other this infection may spread to that other eye Now with antibiotic eyedrops..it should take no more than 3 or 4 days.If it takes longer..please go back to the doctor
I had pink eye and they gave me drops .Cleared it up really fast BUT they made me throw all my eye makeup away because it was contaminated.
