Ok so my son has an earache in both ears. I have been told this morning by two co-workers to have him pee in a cup and put some pee in his ear, and that it will take it away completely. Is this for real? I’m ready to try anything, but I figured this may need some third or fourth opinions..anyone?

No, he doesn’t need piss in his ear he needs to see a doctor.
take the child to the doctor.. he might have an infection… otherwise try polysporin ear drops.. or a little bit of olive oil and then cover with a piece of cotton.
don’t do the pee… it’s gross..
THIS IS NOT HOMEOPATHIC.
Homeopathic is a specific form of treatment based on balancing the minerals in the body in very minute amounts. I have been under the care of a Homeopathic Physician for a long time and know that pee is not on the list of remedies.
What you have been given is a folk remedy. Personally, I would NOT do this to anyone. It is just too risky.
If the ear infection is really bad and if they are recurring, you may want to go to a locally owned health food/herbal store. There are many, many natural, healthy ways to clear up ear infections. With a bit of research online, you should get some ideas.
No pee in the ear – that is just – well – silly.
I have never heard of this remedy. I have, however, done
“candling” to my sons ears for ear infections and it worked faster than any antibiotic.Go to your local health store and tell them you need candles for your sons ears. I know it sounds crazy, but it does work. Buy the candles and follow the directions. Its pretty neat how it works.
Never heard of urine used for this purpose. I have for athlete’s foot in the shower.
Candling is good, but also if the earache is just begun you can try a drop or 2 of hydrogen peroxide in each ear canal. Let it foam a bit for a minute before you do the second ear.
I’ve used it on my girls for years, especially after swimming to prevent ear infection or nip an emerging one in the bud.
If nothing helps and it gets worse, do not hesitate to take him in so he can be comfortable, especially if he is younger. They can be as bad as a migrane.
NO. Don’t do that! DO NOT! The only natural treatment that works for an ear infection is garlic oil( you can get it in the health food store) even the gel vitamin popped and squirted in the ear. …If he does not have a fever than it probably is NOT an infection. Let it ride a few days. If it gets worse (pain & fever) try the garlic oil. If you see puss. Bring the child to the doctor. Most ear infections heal them selves.
Sounds like a load of rubbish to me.
Try a Yahoo search for “olive oil” + “ear wax” (OR earwax OR “ear + wax”) and see what you get.
The olive oil softens the ear wax and makes it easier to remove.
Hi Bethany, for me it’s doubtful treatment, but you need know, that the medical name of urine is Plasma ultrafiltrate. 95% of this liquid is water and the rest is a mixture of nutrients, urea, minerals, enzymes, antibodies and hormones.
Urine consists of urea, which is an antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral agent. Urea is produced when the body tries to balance the ratio of sodium chloride with water. Because of its ability to kill bacteria and limit inflammation, urea is often used in ointments and lotions.
But, i recommend for your son to try some of these home remedies for earache;
The greatest pain reliever is warm, moist heat around the ear. A warm compress-such as a towel rung out in hot water and pressed against the ear-brings the most immediate relief.
Puncture a piece of garlic and pour the juice in the ear. Garlic being a natural antibiotic will help to take the pain away.
Warm mineral oil may soothe a sore ear. Use a dropper to drip the oil in and gently pull the outside of the ear to make sure it goes down.

I just finished going to the Dr. for yet another ear infection my daughter got. I have received a bottle of garlic and mullein in olive oil from my naturopath. You warm it up and drop 1-2 drops in each ear. You can make your own as well. The garlic is a natural antibiotic and the mullein is soothing. I have included a link below with a recipe. It calls for fresh mullein but I would assume you could replace it with dried. Mostly you just cover the mullein and chopped garlic with olive oil and let sit for a few days to infuse the oil. To warm the oil, either hold a dropperful under hot running water until warm, or you can warm up a spoon in hot water, empty the dropper of oil into it, then suck it back up again. At the first sign of a cold or infection, I would start this remedy. I always make the mistake of not being consistent. I missed a couple days of drops and she got the infection.
Another remedy that I have tried and seemed to work…this may sound funny but…breastmilk is a wonderful natural antibiotic. I read this on Mercola.com. He says if you can’t use your own, ask a neighbour…ha ha! But I was breastfeeding my son, so I tried it on my daughter. A few drops in each ear every 4 hours. It seemed to go away…it’s so hard with these things because they may go away on their own, or maybe these remedies (or antibiotics) do work…who knows. I just know that when your child is screaming for the pain to go away…you will try anything. Good luck to you and I hope he is feeling better. If he consistently gets earaches I would try the mullein oil. It is easy to find bulk in any healthfood store and easy to make. Oh, and please, please don’t put pee in his ears….lol.
