Question by Angie O: What can I do to help my child stop?
My 4yr old bites everything! Her nails, hair, cloths, and most recently the charm off her chain. I’ve talked to her doctor she said there’s really nothing I can do. I have tried nail polish, lime juice, and hot sauce for her nail. I have threaten, bribed, lied, and take toys away nothing seems to work.
I know its like a oral fixation thing but I need it to stop.
She makes her fingers bleed. She is been getting canker sores. its really bad.

My little sister used to do that. Do you allow your daughter to chew gum? If so, that might help.

My mom gave my little sister a piece of gum and she didn’t bite her nails or anything until she spit the gum out.
