help break up a chest congestion?

I’ve been sick since before Thanksgiving, took a bunch of over the counter stuff – tried homeopathic cough syrup, tried thera flu, did the cough drops, tried nyquil, tried some sinus decongestant, did the respiratory tea, etc… finally went to the doc and she gave me some prescription. It’s Robitussin with codeine (so I can sleep), which made the cough worse. I mean I was coughing, but I wasn’t coughing anything, and I felt like I was suffocating.

Finally, last night I just drank some tea (sleepy time tea) and I had a few shots of brandy. Today my cough started being productive (how attractive! I know).

But, do you guys think the St Remy had anything to do with it?

I didn’t have a fever – just runny nose, sneezing, and the cough from hell. My doc thinks it’s viral so no antibiotics.

It’s more likely that the tea helped, or maybe time and using the other remedies are finally paying off. Nyquil has alcohol in it too, but you said it didn’t help.
