Choosing The Best Home Exercise Equipment For You

There is no end to the variety of exercise equipment you can buy for the home, from treadmills to free weights to rowing machines and complete sets of hydraulics. It can be difficult to decide which is going to be the best home exercise equipment for you, but before you let these choices overwhelm you, consider a few pointers.

For one thing, the home exercise equipment is going to be equipment that you actually use. If you’re very out of shape and are just starting out, an advanced stepper may be more advanced than you’re ready to handle. A treadmill might be easier; then again, if you have problems with your knees and ankles (as many overweight people do) then an elliptical machine may be better since it has no impact. A good salesperson can help you decide if one of these is the best home exercise equipment for you and you should be able to try out these larger pieces in the store before you actually purchase something.

If you walk on a treadmill and notice your knees are sore or your ankles hurt, switch to an elliptical. You should also take the space in your home into consideration when choosing the exercise equipment for you. Treadmills fold up while elliptical machines usually don’t, so make sure you have the space for the one you choose.

If you’re looking for something more advanced, then the best exercise equipment is going to include some weights for resistance training. Unless you’ve had a lot of experience with lifting weights you may want to choose a workout station. Those who aren’t that experienced in lifting weights are more prone to injury from improper form. Workout stations are much easier to use correctly; it’s a lot of more difficult to get yourself in the wrong position in a workout station than it is when using free weights! Many workout enthusiasts consider a workout station as essential part of their home gym for them. You can get a total body workout that includes all your major muscle groups with many of these stations.

Of course the best home exercise equipment for is going to be something you use every day! If you’re new to lifting weights, make sure you get some lighter weights and smaller increments so you can build up to a larger amount. You can always add more free weights as your fitness level increases so it is not necessary to have a very large outlay of money when you first start building your home gymnasium.

If you hate walking but love biking, a stationary bike is going to be better than a treadmill. If the workout station isn’t going to fit in your home and you need to move some things around just to get to it, then it might not be the exercise equipment for you. Free weights and a bench take up much less space than an entire system and of course they can be just as effective if used properly. The best advice anyone can give you when considering the best home exercise equipment for you is to take your time, shop around, and be realistic and practical about what will fit in your home and what you’ll use regularly.

What Cleaning Solutions Can Be Used on Common Household Appliances?

Cleaning your appliances might not be on the top of your weekly household maintenance check-list, but it is nevertheless something that must be done at least every six months or so to keep your house looking great and running smoothly. From your washing machine to your oven, your household appliances can act as traps for dust, grime and mould, making it essential to give everything a regular fix up with the right cleaning solutions.

It is important that you choose the right solutions for each job in your home. If the wrong mixtures are used, you may be cleaning inefficiently by not targeting the right substances, or you may even damage your appliances and significantly decrease their operational life. We have collected a handy list of different cleaning solutions, both natural and chemical based, to use with different appliances around the home.

The surfaces of most appliances can be washed with a vinegar solution to great effect. To make your own inexpensive cleaning solution, try mixing one part water with one part vinegar in a washed spray bottle. This formula can be used as a natural disinfectant and deodoriser.Washing the oven is one of the most difficult and detested jobs in household maintenance, as most ovens contain burnt on grime and gunk that can take hours of scrubbing to get off. With the right products, however, you can restore your oven to an ‘as new’ state with minimal effort. Harsh chemicals such as ammonia are commonly used to soak the interior of the oven but if your prefer a natural method, a sprinkle of bi carb soda and hot water is a good substitute.Hot, soapy water is a fantastic multi-tasker and can be used as a starter cleaning solution for all sorts of appliances. To wash a neglected stove top with caked on grime, try scrubbing with soap and water, then follow with an ammonia based cleaning solution. You should leave the ammonia to soak for several hours, and then wash the whole thing with soapy water again. To fix up a linty and grimy washing machine, first of all wipe out all the internal parts, such as the filter and detergent drawer, to remove large pieces of built up fluff and dirt. To freshen up the washing machine and to make sure your clothes come out fresh, run a cleaning solution of bi carb soda and vinegar (but look out for explosions!) through a long, warm wash.

Choosing the Best Herbal Supplement to Take

This truth is undeniable: there are just way too many herbal supplements out in the market today. It can be very difficult to choose from among them all. However, it is imperative that you take only the right herbal supplement fit for you depending on your lifestyle and needs. In case you don’t, there is a good chance for you to end up spending hundreds of dollars on health supplements that are good as nothing.

You should know that nutritional supplements are not regulated in any way. Meaning, you are not really sure whether these products will work or if they contain what they say they do. Considering this, how is it possible to choose the right herbal supplement for us? Enumerated are some tips which may help you:

Check for GMP Complicance. GMP happens to be the best and most well-renowned standard that companies need to comply with. Because they require strict standards and conditions, nutritional supplements accredited by GMP are most likely effective and risk-free.

Go only for an herbal supplement that contains standardized and pure extracts. Note that a health must contain purest extract that for you to be sure that it contains quality ingredients. This is where the value of your supplement will come from. Therefore, you will need to take the ingredient quality aspect seriously.

Don’t hesitate to ask for the Certificate of Analysis (COA). It is the COA which will help you make sure that the a health supplement actually contains the exact nutrients written in the packaging. This can also assure you that the supplement manufacturer have performed lab tests for for effectivity, safety and accurate formulation.

Look at the label. The packaging of a health supplement usually reveals quite a lot about the product you wish to take. The label written on a potentially safe herbal supplement must contain the company name, the number of capsules, the active ingredients and their respective amounts, other ingredients or additives contained, and of course, the name and address of the manufacturer.

Do not believe all claims. Try your best not to immediately believe in promised effects which may sound too good to be true for you. Always trust your instincts. Remember that a health supplements are not miracle pills.

Go only for natural herbal supplement. You will be better off if, you should only go for a health supplement contains 100% natural ingredients. Do not get this wrong though, with natural, this means free from allergens, artificial preservatives or dyes. Additives in supplements are usually normal because they serve some purpose. However, try to take one that has no harmful allergens.

If you choose an wrong supplement, you are like tossing your hard-earned money down the drain. What is more dangerous is, if you buy one from an unreliable manufacturer; a simple herbal supplement with the wrong formulation may end up endangering your health.

If you wish to be sure that you are choosing the right one, I would highly recommend herbal supplements from the company XtendLife. Know more about XtendLife products by visiting the website at Natural Herbal and Nutritional Supplements.

Finding a Qualified Classical Homeopath

Homeopathic Services – when you need a Professional Classical Homeopath with the letters DCH, CCH or HMC?

Recently at a presentation I was speaking at, it became very obvious what a confusing struggle it is to know when you’ve found the appropriate holistic practitioner for your specific health concern. In Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, East Vancouver, Burnaby and all of the Lower Mainland, this is a particularly challenging.

The positive aspect of the fact that this is such a challenge in Vancouver is that there are many holistic practitioners to choose from. There are many highly qualified Homeopaths, Naturopaths, TCM practitioners, TCM Doctors, Acupuncturists, Shiatsu, Craniosacral Therapists, Osteopaths, Reiki Masters etc… in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Within the different modalities to choose from, there are various levels of education. Usually this is indicated by the letters behind the practitioners’ name.

When choosing a well educated and experienced Homeopath, look for the following letters: DCH, CCH and HMC. They will often be shown somewhat in this order. The significance of these letters is that they have received four years of up to date/contemporary education. That is what the DCH stands for (Diploma of Classical Homeopathy).

I will define the significance of the term ‘Classical Homeopath’ in another article. The CCH signifies that the Homeopath has completed the Board exams for Certification as a Classical Homeopath that apply to all North American Homeopaths. The CCH letters are very important when looking for a properly trained Homeopath. CCH stands for Certified Classical Homeopath.

In the Vancouver area (specifically Bowen Island and West Vancouver), we are fortunate to have an upper level Homeopath and Professional Teacher, Louis Klein. Between the Vancouver Homeopathic Academy (DCH) with Murray Feldman and Louis Klein’s Homeopathic Master Clinician (HMC) courses, the Vancouver area is brimming with the best trained Homeopaths in North America.

Louis Klein’s HMC course is an excellent three year follow up to the Diploma years. After these seven years of focussed, professional training – a Classical Homeopath is well equipped to help you with any range of health concerns – even the ones that conventional medical doctors might not know how to address (undiagnosed).

Seek Homeopathic Treatment from a Classically trained, professional homeopath for any chronic or acute health concerns. At Access Natural Healing Centre, we have the highest calibre, professional Homeopaths to serve you and your families natural health care needs.

We offer homeopathic treatment for, but not limited to: Allergies, Asthmatic Bronchitis, Headaches, Many psychological problems and disorders including Anxiety and Depression, Constipation, Diarrhea, Insomnia, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, ADD, Autism, Weight Control, Menopausal symptoms, Chalazion, Eczema, Hepatitis-C, IBS, Psoriasis, Tonsillitis, Ulcerative Colitis, Urticaria, Vitiligo.

Good luck and remember to research responsibly. The internet can be a great first start to your research but follow it up with grounding contact with a professional of your choice.

Sincerely, Elena Cecchetto (“El” for short) DCH, CCH (pending), HMC (pending)

Dietary Supplements & General Information

Dietary Supplements

A dietary supplement is a product that a person takes by mouth, which contains nutritional ingredients meant for addition to the normal diet. These extra nutritional ingredients may include minerals, vitamins, botanicals, herbs, amino acids, organ tissues, metabolites and glandular. Ingredients like extracts or combinations such as soft gels, liquids, oils, capsules, tablets and powders can also constitute a dietary supplement.

Dietary supplements can also be found as bars and in other forms but they are classified as food and not as drugs.

Classifications of Dietary Supplements

The dietary supplements can be classified into the following four classes.

Herbs and Botanicals

Dietary supplements of herbs consist of natural products. These products are active ingredients or extracts from plant roots, stems, seeds, leaves, flowers or buds. An herbal product can be an extract of two or more active ingredients or they may be whole plant. Herbal extracts are being used to maintain low cholesterol, good health and help in disease control. People generally have a wrong view that because they are natural, these dietary supplements are good for health.

An example of a dangerous dietary supplement is ephedra extract. This is generally used for weight loss and energy boosting. It causes muscle injury, blood pressure, nerve damage, and stroke or memory loss. It is banned, but any dietary supplement containing this herb extract should never be used.

Many herbs prove to be very good dietary supplements. Some of these are listed below.

Grape Seed Antioxidant

Grape seed dietary supplement has concentrated extract of active ingredients from the seed of grapes. This product shows antioxidant properties and acts as a free radicals remover.

Oxy-Gen 3 flavors

Oxy-Gen is an Aloe Vera dietary supplement that provides improved oxygen for the human body.

Other herbal dietary supplements include cranberry, garlic, green tea, ginkgo biloba, etc.

Vitamins

Vitamin dietary supplements contain essential vitamins that are needed by many cell reactions and body functions. Certain vitamins exhibit antioxidant behavior too which remove the free radicals from the body. Some vitamins present in dietary supplements are not manufactured within human body such as vitamin K and vitamin D. A healthy body that has a supply of good balanced diet doesn’t need vitamin supplements, as over usage of such dietary supplements can cause liver damage.

Vitamins are of two types: water soluble and fat soluble. The water soluble vitamins such as vitamin C and the 7 vitamin Bs can dissolve in water and hence are not stored in any significant amount within the human body. The fat soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A, D, E and K are stored in the fats of the body. Fresh fruits or vitamin dietary supplement is used by people to ensure proper amount of water soluble vitamins.

Vitamin A & D (25,000 IU/1,000 IU)

This dietary supplement is rich in vitamin A and vitamin D, which are both needed by many cell functions and body reactions for release of energy.

B-12 / Folic Acid Combo

B12 and folic acid belong to the vitamin B family and support action of the C vitamin. It also helps to strengthen the acid present in the stomach for better digestion.

Other vitamin dietary supplements include vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, vitamin K, Vitamin B12, B6, B3 and many more.

Minerals

Mineral dietary supplements contain minerals required by body fluids and tissues like bones, brain, teeth, liver, brain, blood, muscle and nerve cells. There are approximately 60 minerals that are present in a human body but 22 out of them are necessary. To have the proper amounts of minerals, good healthy food and dietary supplements are advised.

Dietary supplements contain two types of minerals required by the body. The major minerals, which are the ones that are required by the body in large amounts, are calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chlorides and sulfur. Body requirement for these minerals is almost 250 grams each day. The trace minerals are copper, iodine, fluoride, manganese, iron, zinc and chromium and are required in small quantities. The amount that should be taken of trace mineral is about 20 milligram each day.

Liquid Life Ultra Calcium w/Ostivone

This mineral dietary supplement contains easily absorbing calcium along with several other trace minerals.

75 Plant Derived Minerals

75 plant derived mineral dietary supplement is natural and the purest source of minerals. It provides many minerals not produced within the body.

Nutritional Supplements

These dietary supplements include fish oils, compounds present in food such as flavonoids, CoQ10 and many more.

Who needs dietary Supplements?

Dietary supplements are needed by all those people who have deficiency of certain nutrients in their diet or body due to lack of proper vitamin and mineral rich foods or lack of enough food. Athletes, vegetarians, older people and pregnant women can use dietary supplements for better health.

Dietary Supplement Selection and Use

Dietary supplements provide extra nutritional ingredients and are not a replacement of food. Natural foods provide many complex compounds that are needed by the human body in many function and cell metabolism. These products are only to be used to improve body function. Before you actually opt for a supplement bear the following points in mind.

It may be wise to avoid all the dietary supplements that have large or mega servings. Over usage can cause nutrient toxicity. Many dietary supplements contain herbal and botanical extracts that are known to cause severe side effects. You must have complete and viable information about the ingredients. Natural vitamins are more expensive and if any company offers very low prices then they may not be genuine. Check the label of the supplement and note the amount of nutrients in each serving. The label of the medicine should have USP written on it which means that the dietary supplement meets the US Pharmacopeia standards.

There are some known dietary supplements that a person should not take. Some of these include Aristolochic acid that is toxic for the kidney, comfrey that causes liver disease, kava that causes liver damage, Tiratricol that can cause heart attacks, chaparral that causes hepatitis, and usnic acid that is toxic to the liver. There are other dietary supplements in the market that have side effects, as well.

Cleaning a Tile Floor – Your Step-By-Step Guide for Methods and Supplies

Cleaning a tile floor is not as difficult as one might think, especially if you are using the right equipment and the right cleaners or cleaning supplies. Many homeowners prefer using tiles as their flooring because it is perhaps the easiest to clean. Although that’s the case, there are times where it still proves to be a challenge especially when you find the grout lines turning into an ugly black sight. And although your tile flooring looks clean most of the time, you still need to make sure that it’s free from harmful bacteria and viruses.

Prepare Yourself

Preparing the items to use is the logical first step for cleaning a tile floor. For the dry materials, the basic items would be your broom, dust mop and sponge for the dry materials. As for the wet cleaning materials, the basics would be a bucket of clean water and household cleaners like Lysol.

Solution Option 1

If you don’t have one available, you can use 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol mixed with a gallon of water to make sure that your floor is free from bacteria. Just mop the solution to the tile floors and let it dry. If you are using household cleaners that contain chemicals, be sure to mop it with clean water after using the household cleaner. Remember; before you apply the wet solutions, sweep the floor first.

Solution Option 2

Cleaning a tile floor with white vinegar solution is also a great alternative to household cleaners. Vinegar is an effective disinfectant and also doubles as an insect repellant. When using a vinegar solution to clean floors, you have to make sure that it is not strong enough to leave a sour vinegar odor. So dilute it with warm water first before mopping it on the floor. A good ratio for this solution is one part white vinegar to six parts water. If you don’t have a mop handy, you can use a sponge or a hand towel but you do have to get down on your hand and knees. Should there be stubborn dirt that cannot be mopped away, you could use a nylon scrubber to remove it.

Get the Grout

As mentioned, grout is the biggest challenge for cleaning a tile floor. The sides of the tiles is where the dirt, spills and stains love to gather on which is why you need to pay special attention to it. You can use a toothbrush to scrub out the dirt but if you feel that it is too tedious for you, you can make use of mops equipped with cloth strips. Another option is using a cotton mop that has coiled yarns. One good tip is to seal the grout to make it easier to clean in the future; this should be done before the tile is used or after a thorough cleaning.

Warning…

Again, like any cleaning material, you have to be careful on the types of household cleaners to use. For example, if you have a colored grout, avoid using cleaners that are ammonia-based. This will cause discoloration on the pigments of the grout coloring. Paying special attention to the products used in cleaning a tile floor would save you a lot of trouble in the future.
