I just used Bull Frog Sunblock Surfer Formula, for the first time, on a trip to the Caribbean. Even after snorkeling in salt water and swimming in chlorinated swimming pools, it worked day after day. I never got a sun burn, except for a small spot that I missed on my face (my fault).
One family member, on this same trip, used Banana Boat brand, and got burnt pretty bad, even though it said it was water proof. I can attest to this, as I have used Banana Boat in the past, and had the same problem.
I have used Bull Frog brand for many years now, and it is the only brand that I trust to keep from being burned while in the water.

I’ve been using the Bull Frog surfer’s gel since the early 1990s and think it’s the best sunscreen on the market. It was actually recommended to me by a dermatologist when I was a teenager. My skin tends to be sensitive to OTHER sunscreens and actually “burns” just from the lotion being applied. I went to college in Florida and Bullfrog Surfer Gel proved to be the perfect sunscreen. You apply a thin coat twice and you’re good for the day! Doesn’t sweat or wash off when swimming, and, most importantly, doesn’t burn your eyes when you sweat and it runs on your face. I’ve NEVER gotten burned with the sunscreen and it allows you to golden tan after prolonged stays in the sun. Perfect for beach or poolside, however, it does leave a residue, so probably not the best for everyday use with clothing. If you are in the sun all day (like a day at the beach), it’s wise to reapply. Everyone’s skin is different, but I think you’ll find the sunscreen to be a superior product.

My family and I have skin that burns very easily. We also spend a good deal of our summer saltwater fishing in Florida. We have tried virtually every kind of sunblock we can find, and Bull Frog Surfer Formula is the only one that stays on for 8 hours of boating, wade fishing, and swimming in the Florida sun. Excellent product.

Bullfrog does have a gel. This is not it. This is a thick gooey oil.
Think vegetable cooking oil, but thicker.
Coppertone has a gel that I have used, as does Bullfrog. These products have a faint volatile/alcohol odor, and dry very quickly, leaving a very minimal residue on the skin. That was what I thought I was ordering. This stuff leaves an oil slick.
I used this product, and it protected me just fine, but I felt like I had fallen into a vat of Crisco. Maybe that is what it takes to stay on the skin for people who are swimming. It may be a fine product for that purpose, and for other purposes.
I regret having to give it only one star, but I feel like Bullfrog really is deceptive in calling this a gel, and they fooled me, which is irritating. I tried to find an 800 number to call the company and discuss this, but I could find no number on the label, or on their web site.
Once again–don’t expect this to be a gel sunscreen as most people think of a gel sunscreen. Buyer beware (buyer be greasy).

Bull Frog Surfer Formula SPF 36 protects for a long time and allows you to tan safely without burning! I highly recommend this product!
