Budget Brain With Arteries Model

This is a great model. I was impressed with the amount of detail you can get for this price. If you are looking for something to teach the finer points of neuroanatomy and circuitry it is not for you, but if you are using it to talk about the brain in general terms, say to children or lay people, than it is perfect.

I was surprised when I received this model because it had a lot of detail and was an excellent value for the money. All of the important structures are recognizable and the plastic is semi-soft and appears rugged.
I have another 3B Scientific model of the brain that was around $200.00 and this model is comparable in most ways! I would say that makes it a real bargain, especially when the other one doesn’t show the arteries and this one does.
I don’t think you can go wrong with this, especially if you are a high school or college student. If you are medical student, you may want to get one of the better models from 3B Scientific or the Anatomical Chart Company. Both of these vendors sell on Amazon.

This product is what it says. It lacks a little detail and the way that it is put together is not quite exact, but if you are looking for a brain model at an inexpensive price to study basic to intermediate brain anatomy with, I would suggest this one.

I bought this particular brain model from Amazon to help me study for a graduate-level neuropsychology class. And while it didn’t have every structure I needed to know, it had the vast majority of them. As the product description indicates, this model features two different planes of section (mid-sagittal and horizontal), a detachable unit comprising the diencephalon, midbrain and hindbrain, and a detachable cerebellum (yes, I know that the cerebellum is also part of the hindbrain.) Most of the cranial nerves are readily accessible, which is also a plus. A few drawbacks- I personally find the painting on the diencephalon and midbrain areas a bit confusing, and the manufacturer’s diagrams list very few brain areas. The interested student will want to consult a brain atlas or their textbook instead. Nonetheless, it is a big help to have a three-dimensional brain model to compare with pictures and diagrams, especially if one wants to get a greater sense of proportion between various brain structures (e.g., the corpora quadragemina compared with the globus pallidus or the pons). I don’t know whether I would have purchased this model at the list price, but at the Amazon price ($[...] as of the writing of this review), it is well worth the money.

In general it shows sufficient detail But the downside is
It’s very heavy a rock like mass.
Second it’s intend to be assembled and disassemble but the design is very poor in using screw as a pin to hold two pieces of this kind of rubbery material together making it pain to take them apart and put them together.
