A young child (2 years old) has developed a nasty chest cold that has lasted for nearly 2 weeks, and her mother has given up on homeopathic medicines and taken the child to the emergency room. The child has a persistent cough, often coming in groups of 5 or 6 consecutive coughs followed by a deep inspiration, and the child’s mucus is extremely thick. When asked for an immunization record, the mother replied that the little girl had never received any of her childhood immunizations because she believed trying to treat her child with homeopathic means, and traditional medicine only when absolutely necessary. Gram stains of the child’s sputum revealed the presence of many Gram negative rods.
1.What is the name of disease which afflicted this little girl and what is the infectious agent that caused it?
2. What is the transmission route for this disease?
3. What general precautions should the mother have taken to help prevent infection with this organism?
4. Are there any toxins associated with the organism that causes this disease? If so, what are they and how do they affect the human body?
5. What antibiotic(s) would the doctor have prescribed for this type of infection?
6. What could have happened to the little girl if her mother had not taken her to the doctor (in other words, how would the untreated infection have progressed)?
This is a case study and I need scientific answers, not your propaganda about how doctors are incompetent. Can someone please help me answer the questions posted here? Thank You.

Stop judging that mother and stirring up trouble.
Also be mindful that many doctors are incompetent and they do immeasurable harm. In my state, they purposely used contaminated equipment on people in order to save money, with the nurses having knowledge about it. Thousands of people a year lose their lives because of unnecessary operations.
